Essay Workshop for the College Application

Given the rising costs of higher education, the record numbers of college applicants, and the decrease in scholarships being awarded, 2021 graduates need to differentiate themselves in the college application process. This year, with many colleges offering test-optional admission due to COVID-19, the essay can be the single best way for high school seniors to reveal themselves as individuals to prospective colleges.

Register today for our Essay Workshop for the College Application. Students will learn how to write a polished essay that highlights their passions, character, and convictions, and demonstrates how they can positively contribute to a college community. The workshop is a combination of small-group Zoom sessions to learn the nuances of college essay writing, craft a personalized essay, and then conference and edit drafts to finish a stand out essay in about a week!

Seniors – During our Essay Workshop we will:

  • Brainstorm about you – your experiences, your story, your values!
  • Examine sample essays to learn about what has worked for others
  • Review the Do’s and Don’ts of writing application essays
  • Discuss the Common Application essay prompts – which one tells your story?
  • Privately conference with the instructor for writing assistance, motivational support and to help you find your voice!
  • Revise to enhance content and edit to correct grammar/punctuation using Google docs

Students will complete the Essay Workshop having written a polished essay that highlights their passions, character, and convictions, and demonstrates how they will positively contribute to a college community.
